Buone Feste!

I am wishing you and myself the following:

1. to improve: a little goes a long way. I am actually realizing that it is better to take tiny steps than none at all waiting for the huge change that never arrives;

2. to be patient: to myself, to my significant and not so significant others. We can all have bad days, bad lives, bad whatevers, but we need to leave room to deal with it.

3. to find silence for a quiet soul: because it is so easy to get a mind crammed of work, family, friends, pain, emptiness and www.nonsense and to let another year slip by unnoticed.

pea guacamole

As you may know already, if you have happened to wander around this little corner of the internet, I kind of buy a few (read: too many) cookbooks. But how am I supposed to resist? Look at this beauty, I just blinked at it and it was love at first sight.

Totally intriguing book, with so many influences and bizarre ingredients, I am very happy with my investment and I'll try tonight the mock guacamole with peas and see what happens.

I know you may think why not testing some fancier recipes, but that means a bit of planning and outsourcing, so let me just get acquainted with it at first.

Have a nice time and thanks for stopping by.

quick oatmeal cookies

Hello there,

have you tried yet this lemon cake by Ottolenghi and Goh?

Whenever I purchase a cookbook and then outsource the just tested recipe online, I wonder why I keep buying them, if almost everything is available for free on the big net.

Well, I guess I just love to have piles of cookbooks scattered in my minuscule apartment, strategically placed so that I can (almost) safely jostle through them while I wander in my sensless home errands.

Wishing you a sparkle of joy in this gray September day,

torta di mele

Hello dearest reader,

I have actually tried to bake this apple cake from Melissa Forti and it was a huge success.

I am looking forward to try other recipes from the book.

Have a nice afternoon!

Life goes on inexorably and it is both a relief and awkward. Human tragedies happen every given day and it feels so preposterous to be here thinking about food to cook and other trivialities.
Still I need to escape in a sunny place where only by measurements and instructions you can control an outcome and eat it too.
Because I have some red wine left, I will try to drawn some broccoli.
I have tried this apple cake and it is delicious, although I have added a full one cup of rice flour to the recipe to make it work. Yet it may depend on egg sizes, because probably American large eggs are actually Italian medium eggs and I ended up with a very liquid batter in the first place.
I hope you have a joyous day, I wish that you remember that you are loved and blessed, because you are alive and there are still endless possibilities in every minute of your precious existence.

ricette che forse provero'

Hello dearest reader,
I’ve been out and about and not feeling much like cooking lately.
Yet this Sunday I would like to bake this  apple cakeand possibly these buckwheat gallettes could be my dinner tonight.
Will the bread and cheese win again?
Let the battle begin...
Have a nice weekend!
